A benefit to designers, the hollow shaft allows passage of wiring, tubing, laser beams, or other mechanical parts through the motor's center.

A benefit to designers, the hollow shaft allows passage of wiring, tubing, laser beams, or other mechanical parts through the motor’s center. Maximum through-bore sizes are 0.25, 0,375, and 0.5 in., respectively, for the size 9, 12, 16 hollow shaft motors available. Encoders, tachometers, and holding brakes are among optional features.
