Pittsburgh, Pa. Westinghouse Process Control Inc. has released its SmartProcess Optimization Software for the power generation industry. A hybrid combination of linear models, neural networks, and fuzzy logic, SmartProcess offers a suite of software modules capable of working with any distributed control system. The suite includes modules to optimize many power generation processes including steam temperature control, NOx and opacity emissions, sootblowing, and load dispatch. SmartProcess enhances processes dynamically and is said to provide consistent, reliable results during all plant operation scenarios, including shutdown, load swings, and baseload operation.
