Portland, OR— Instantiations Inc. recently acquired SWT Designer, including exclusive title of the product and all related technology, from Eclipse Plug-Ins Lab and its author Konstantin Scheglov. SWT Designer is a leading solution in the emerging standard widget toolkit (SWT) graphical user interface (GUI) tools market. Scheglov will retain an ongoing technical relationship with the company, and will assist in the design and implementation of future GUI building products.
‘SWT Designer is used by thousands of Java developers worldwide,’ says Scheglov. ‘I am looking forward to working with Instantiations to enhance the product and make it available to even more developers.’
SWT is an open-source technology from the Eclipse community that is designed to facilitate the creation of high performance, native widget GUI applications for Java. SWT is an alternative to Swing/AWT, another Java GUI building platform offered by Sun Microsystems. SWT is available at no cost from the Eclipse Project at www.eclipse.org .
‘SWT is an exceptionally powerful technology for creating Java GUIs’, says Mike Taylor, Instantiations’ CEO. ‘We were delighted to acquire such a technically innovative product, and look forward to creating a strong family of GUI building products for all Java developers.’
SWT Designer is available immediately for Eclipse 2.1 and IBM WebSphere Studio 5.1 running on Windows 2000/XP or Linux/GTK2.
