Austin, Tex. -National Instruments (NI) has increased the speed of its newest PXI/CompactPCI embedded controllers. Computing power and system performance is now twice NI’s earlier PXI-8165B Series.
The PXI-8170 Series contains 700-MHz and 450-MHz Intel Pentium III processors and the Intel BX chip set. The controllers come in 3U Eurocard size and operate with all PXI and CompactPCI peripheral modules. Users can choose from preloaded Microsoft Windows 98 or NT and preloaded application software such as LabView or LabWindows/CVI.
The controllers can be ordered with integrated AGP video, up to 256 Mbits of 100-MHz SDRAM, standard floppy drive, ultra DMA33 hard drive, Universal Serial Bus, keyboard and mouse ports, and serial and parallel ports.
