Foxboro, Mass. — The Foxboro Co. recently presented Weyerhauser Co.’s pulp mill (Cosmopolis, Wa.) with a plaque commemorating more than 40 years of service by the mill’s venerable Foxboro Model 1810 Magnetic Flow-meter. Foxboro believes this flowmeter, installed in 1957, is the oldest operating magnetic flowmeter in existence.
Mill officials report the flowmeter has never needed maintenance. The only time it was taken out of service was when the spool piece that connects the flowmeter to the main pulp stock feed line corroded, and had to be replaced. The flowmeter was fine and went right back into service.
