Gilbert, AZ — Omni Automation Inc . reports that its newly released OmniCAN/DeviceNet PCI 7202B adapter provides a flexible solution for accessing CAN/DeviceNet networks. It is equipped with Dual CAN channels, each supporting up to 1 Mbps transmission. An LED bank is incorporated for easy troubleshooting and visual verification of network traffic. PCI 7202B fits into the backplane of a standard or Industrial PC. It is possible to install four PCI cards into one PC allowing it to interface with eight networks.

Omni adds that what makes its card unique is its comprehensive suite of programs, which provide several options for accessing devices and data on the CAN/DeviceNet network. These features include:

VC++ and VB programs that access the CAN bus directly through the Device Driver;

VC++ and VB programs that access the CAN bus via a CAN Information Server (CIS). CIS allows multiple client applications to access CAN Bus simultaneously; and

DeviceNet Master Scanner (DNMCIS) software, which allows users to access slave polled devices on a DeviceNet network. The server API allows users to add devices to the server’s scan list, and then transmit/receive poll data to/from the slave device. The DNMCIS server currently supports polled DeviceNet devices only. This software with the PCI 72922B is extremely valuable for users of DeviceNet networks, and is much less expensive than other DeviceNet scanner cards.
