Las Vegas —Nutec Systems, Inc., Booth No. C-3007, unveiled the new Pharmacarton Coding system that offers in-line, high-resolution digital printing of lot, expiration and bar codes for pharmaceutical and medical cartons. This new design overcomes the problem of printing high-density bar codes and 2D codes in-line by totally controlling the carton during the print and vision process. The system utilizes a SeaVision OCV Character Verification component that uses a fixed-focus camera to eliminate incorrectly coded products and is integrated with a Wolke M600 thermal ink-jet printer from Hewlett-Packard. The HP inks allow for printing on varnished cartons, offering more flexibility for pharmaceutical and medical manufacturers, the co. says. Other features include easy integration into existing packaging lines using minimum space and for a range of carton sizes.
In other announcements, Nutec Systems and The John Henry Packaging Group, Booth No. C-5432 and N-8629, confirmed the formation of a strategic marketing partnership to offer high-quality, secure, digital on-line printing technology that helps prevent counterfeiting and product diversion. Shahriar Ghoddousi, president and CEO of the John Henry Company, says, “This agreement enables us to meet a growing market need. We can now provide clients with highly refined variable data and proprietary security coding on labels, cartons, inserts and blister- packaging in the pharmaceutical, medical device, food, cosmetic and other industries.”
