Thermo Electron Corp . and Camo Software are partnering to integrate modeling software with NIR (near-infrared) analyzers. The analytical instrumentation company and modeling software firm have agreed to promote compatibility between Thermo’s Result software and Camo’s The Unscrambler software. Thermo will offer The Unscrambler suite of products as an option with its Antaris range of NIR analyzers and will also join Camo’s scientific board of advisors to plan upcoming development activities.

The enhanced relationship between Result and The Unscrambler software packages will let Result automatically integrate existing Unscrambler methods, bringing the analyzers and modeling software together for NIR applications. Food and pharmaceutical industries require powerful chemometric modeling and exploratory statistical tools to conduct analyses, such as studying relationships in their products and manufacturing processes.

Integration eliminates the need for data conversion or rebuilding methods in different software. The Unscrambler’s wizard-driven “design of experiment” features and advanced modeling capabilities are reportedly of particular benefit for process analytical technology (PAT) implementations that require optimized method development for NIR analysis and exploration of the process design space. The process can now be carried out from one analytical package.

According to a Camo company spokesperson, the move will bring lower R&D and applications development costs and improve analytical and development capabilities implementing chemometric applications.
