Partnership: IBM joins Rockwell Automation’s PartnerNetwork

Milwaukee, WI – Fresh on the heels of its 2007 Automation Fair conference in Chicago, Rockwell Automation announced that IBM’s Global Business Services has joined its FactoryTalk Information Solution Provider program. As a partner in the program, IBM will extend its existing relationship with Rockwell Automation by helping manufacturers build plant-wide information applications and manufacturing execution systems (MES) using the FactoryTalk suite.

The two companies have been actively collaborating on plant-to-enterprise solutions within several vertical industries, including automotive and life sciences.Rockwell Automation launched the Information Solution Provider program in October 2006 to provide manufacturers with an extended network of information systems professionals to help them integrate their control and information environments for better manufacturing performance. Rockwell Automation trains and certifies participants on implementing applications within the FactoryTalk suite.

IBM is the second partner in the program, joining Summa, an IT consulting services and custom software development company. Pittsburgh-based Summa is an IBM Premier Business Partner and Microsoft Certified Partner.

IBM is also one of three companies designated a Rockwell Automation Alliance Partner. These companies represent a particularly high level of technology partnership with Rockwell, and specific areas of expertise. Other Alliance partners include Endress+Hauser, providing process field device expertise and total process solutions, and Cicsco Systems, integrating manufacturing IT, [and] leveraging the EtherNet/IP network standard.

The FactoryTalk Information Solution Provider Program is part of the Rockwell%%proven, trusted, and established” automation system integrators; and its 104 Encompass Partner companies, which provide referenced products that work with Rockwell Automation products.
