Baumer FlexBar 3431 offers a configurable pressure transmitter with Profibus PA communication.
The Baumer FlexBar 3431 offers a fully configurable pressure transmitter with Profibus PA communication. Due to its 3A-approved stainless steel housing and hygienic process connections, the device is suitable for the pharmaceutical and food industry. A range of process connections available makes FlexBar 3431 suitable for almost all types of pressure measuring applications even in Ex areas.The transmitter is configurable with Simatic PDM software, allowing online process monitoring, transmitter configuration, and multiple process control in 2-wire networks suited for Ex applications. In the EEx ia IIC T5 version, the FlexBar 3431 can be connected with up to six instruments. Based on a piezoresistive polysilicon strain gauge sensor, the instrument can measure absolute or relative pressure of up to 400 bar. With a fast response time, an accuracy of &0.2% of full scale, and excellent temperature compensation, FlexBar 3431 works with media temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 °C and overpressure of up to 400% (max. 600 bar).Electronics are separated from the media by a thin diaphragm and an oil filling. FlexBar 3431 is available with three different oil fillings, including a mineral oil complying with the FDA demands for applications in the food and pharmaceutical industry. The electrical connection is established via a M16 gland or a 4-pole M12 plug. For local read-out, the FlexBar 3431 is available with an integrated display.

The Honeywell Model 811FM Series pressure transmitters suit environments where liquids, gas, or corrosive vapors occur.They feature welded, stainless steel diaphragms and hermetically-sealed steel cases with corrosion and shock resistance plus reverse polarity protection. The two-wire 4 mA -20 mA output has a high signal-to-noise ratio, allowing for cable runs up to 10 miles long. Applications include electrical power generation stations, petrochemical, and brewing plants.Also recently released by Honeywell are FSS Series force sensors for medical infusion pump applications, which help ensure there are no blockages in the tube that delivers medication to the patient. The company also offers flexible heaters, pressure, airflow, and humidity sensors to help monitor, detect, or control machine performance and patient comfort in Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) machines, a treatment option for sleep apnea conditions.

Servoflo has announced a new pressure sensor line by Massachusetts-based Alpha Instruments . Sensors focus on 10-in. H2O to 100-in. H2O, and come in unidirectional or bidirectional versions. With different packaging options, sensors are used for HVAC applications including duct measurement, cleanrooms, fume hoods, biological safety cabinets, and isolation rooms. Output of Alpha Instrument sensors includes either voltage or current output. Package offerings include PC board mount, NEMA 1, and NEMA 4 enclosures.Servoflo also has a new case study on its Web site. Hickok Incorporated is using the Fujikura XFPM Series in its EVAP Leak Tester, a portable system designed specifically for measuring and reporting leaks in automobile evaporative emissions systems. Pressure transducers are mounted on the main board electronics assembly.Datasheets are now available for the MS5534, MS5535, MS5540,and MS5541 Series of calibrated digital pressure sensors. The new datasheets are named “C” (i.e. MS5534C) and are posted on Servoflo’s Web site.A new overstock section on the Web site lists items on sale for immediate delivery. One item is a Fujikura pressure sensor, FPM-07PGR, for non-corrosive gases; the other is a Metallux ME501 0.5 bar ceramic pressure sensor.Additionally, a new Sensor Selector Tool helps find the right pressure sensor for any application.
