Sensors Expo Fall 2002: HBM launches sensor service for OEMs

Boston, MA— Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik GmbH (HBM, Darmstadt, Germany; Marlborough, MA) launched its new OEM Custom-Designed Sensors service on Sept. 24 at Sensors Expo Fall 2002 . HBM supplies test and measurement technology, data acquisition systems and software.

HBM reports that its sensor service provides a highly qualified team that works with OEMs to adapt different sensing technologies to their needs. HBM uses finite element analysis (FEA) and fast prototyping techniques to shorten development cycles.

Past successes with this program, according to HBM, have included:

  • Miniature half-bridge displacement sensors and miniature strain gage pressure sensors;

  • Double bending beam sensors for monitoring force in medical infusion devices;

  • Miniature transducers for force and pressure measurement;

  • Force feedback sensors for aircraft flight control system;

  • Textile tension sensor with customized enclosure and integrated signal conditioning electronics; and

  • Torque transducer used in test and calibration equipment.
