3D system creates flexible safety zone around hazardous equipment
To improve plant safety and decrease industrial accidents, Castell’s QuadCam system with 3D imaging technology can identify objects and people moving in and around machinery, distinguishing between one, two, or more persons with real-time tracking of all people within its field of view.
Safety zone: Castell’s QuadCam system with 3D imaging technology can identify objects and people moving in and around machinery, distinguishing between one, two, or more persons with real-time tracking of all people within its field of view.
The Castell QuadCam system with 3D imaging technology can identify objects and people moving in and around machinery, distinguishing between one, two, or more persons with real-time tracking of all people within its field of view. Machinery cannot be restarted until the entire detection zone is clear of unauthorized objects and people. Accurate and flexible detection system ignores background objects, avoiding nuisance alarms, and allows users to define warning and shutdown zones. When a warning zone is breached, visual and audible warnings alert workers, and can also signal them to slow machinery. If the shutdown zone is breached, the system sends a signal to halt the machinery. Signals are sent within milliseconds of an intrusion. One imager can protect a zone up to 8 x 10 ft when the imager is mounted at 11 ft. One controller can manage up to 10 imagers (or 10 protection zones) and monitor up to 800 sq ft. Plug-and-go harnesses permit simple imager installation and wiring, and allow relocation of imagers when necessary. Reconfiguring is simple using a Microsoft Windows-based PC interface. Imagers can view numerous potentially dangerous areas and are tamper-resistant. Machine access when maintenance is needed is fast to minimize process downtime. www.castell.com Castell– Edited by Jeanine Katzel , consulting editor Control Engineering News Desk Register here .
