Atlanta GA— Citect recently introduced a pocket PC-based operator interface, Citect SCADA Pocket, which gives managers and operators the freedom to remotely monitor and control their plants.

‘Citect delivers high-quality, innovative solutions that exceed customer expectations, and I’m certain our Pocket offering will be an exceptional value for managers and operators, particularly in the water industry, where speed of response to critical issues such as a pumping station break-down, reservoir levels being too low, or malfunction in a dosing pump, is paramount’, says Darren Trumeter, president of Citect’s Americas operation.

Using wireless network technology, such as GSM, GPRS, WLAN or Bluetooth, and with no configuration changes required at the SCADA end, CitectSCADA Pocket connects quickly and seamlessly to CitectSCADA, allowing authorized users full access to their plants and data. In response to customer concerns, it uses industry-standard network security to minimize risks of potential cyberattacks.

Running on Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system and using Microsoft .NET Compact Framework and .NET web services, CitectSCADA Pocket requires minimal configuration. Complete with preconfigured pages for alarms, trends and variable tags, the company says, CitectSCADA Pocket is the most intuitive, easy-to-use, mobile SCADA solution available. With the freedom that constant plant visibility and increased mobility offers, managers are able to concentrate on efficiency improvements, such as better staff utilization, by acting on issues, such as alarms, in a more timely and prioritized manner.
