$789,000,000,000 in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
aims to create jobs, jumpstart growth, and transform our economy to compete in the 21st century, according to President Barak Obama. The compromise package will create or save 3.5 million jobs over the next two years in a range of industries from clean energy to health care, according to a White House press release, with over 90% in the private sector. The Feb. 17 press release also links to more detailed informaiton, including a breakdown by states.

130 years : "In our day we don't allow a hundred and thirty years to elapse between glimpses of a marvel." -Mark Twain from "Life on the Mississippi."
For 125 years IEEE says it has fostered technological innovation and excellence to benefit humanity. "We look forward to sharing with you a glimpse into the future," the organization says, as it plans various events around the theme, " Celebrating 125 years of engineering the future ."
1st-5th place in a ranking by number of U.S. manufacturing employees, according to a map from National Association of Manufacturers, are California, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, respectively. Which state is sixth: Michigan, Indiana, New York, North Carolina, or Georgia? Find out at www.nam.org/TradeData/StateData.aspx .
1/4 . An online database on "Rules of Thumb " says, under the electricity category, "the higher the frequency, the smaller the size of the motor. A motor designed to run on 400 Hz alternating current is about one-fourth the size of a motor designed for 60 Hz."
One . Team Frednet claimed to be, at the end of 2008, the first and only international 100% open source competitor for the Google Lunar X Prize. See the progress with " Jaluro's First Test Drive ." See also www.googlelunarxprize.org .
>5,400 business and citizen forms are represented on this Web site, with frequent updates and additions, the U.S. government says.
3 steps to keep your resolutions, along with a list of 13 popular New Year's resolutions are included at www.usa.gov on Dec. 30, 2008. How did you do keeping yours? Hmm. Could the U.S. government stand to lose weight, manage debt, and save money? Those are the first three entries at www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/New_Years_Resolutions.shtml .
305,518,516 is the U.S. population estimate at 14:57 GMT (EST+5) Dec 30, 2008, while the world population estimate was 6,750,520,924. U.S. has 4.53% of the world's population. What is it now? Check at www.usa.gov.
200 years after the birth of Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin, various events around the world honored each. The were both born on Feb. 12, 1809. Here are some comments and blog-based graphic on Darwin and Lincoln , and which historical superstar had more impact.
