Controller board: Kontron adds Intel duo-processor support on CompactPCI controller board

By Control Engineering Staff March 29, 2007

Kontron added Intel CoreTM 2 Duo processor support to its Kontron CP6012 CompactPCI processor board. According to the company, the upgraded board, called the Kontron CP601264, meets the highest performance standards, and, in combination with the Intel E7520 chipset, manages data throughput with server quality. The PICMG 2.16-compatible Kontron CP601264 features an L2 cache that is twice as large (4 MB), a much improved internal architecture, and 64-bit Intel technology for increased performance over the Intel Core Duo option. Designed for bandwidth-intensive applications, the unit provides hot swap and IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) support, and meets the highest standards for the management of high-availability applications. The company hopes this will make it exceptionally attractive to highly sensitive, security-relevant telecom and datacom applications, and image-processing systems in medical tomography systems, as well as for other vertical segments.
