Dassault Systèmes acquires fatigue simulation software company
Safe Technology, based in the U.K., specializes in fatigue simulation technology to test and predict product durability. The software firm had worked with Dassault Systèmes’ Rhode Island-based realistic simulation brand, Simulia, for more than 15 years and is expected to enhance customers’ ability to predict and analyze product life quickly and accurately. Dassault Systemes also owns Solidworks. Purchase price was not disclosed.
Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) (Paris:DSY), provider of 3D design software and 3D digital mock up and product lifecycle management (PLM) software, on Sept. 4 announced the acquisition of Safe Technology Ltd., provider of fatigue simulation software for predicting product durability. The acquisition of Safe Technology, based in Sheffield, U.K., expands Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience platform and its realistic simulation applications (Simulia), enhancing its durability prediction software capabilities. Dassault Systèmes entered into a definitive acquisition agreement with Safe Technology whereby Dassault Systèmes acquired the company in an all-cash transaction. This transaction was completed on August 7, 2013.
Safe Technology, developer of the fe-safe durability simulation application suite, has more than 500 customers, including General Motors, Caterpillar Inc., Cummins Inc., Emerson Climate Technologies, Honda Jets, Harley Davidson Motor Company, and Hyundai Motors. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
