With the growing use of Ethernet in industrial automation applications, network management is becoming more of an issue, especially as networks grow in size. Moxa’s MXview Industrial Network Management software is designed for the industrial engineer so that knowing the network status does not require an advanced degree in networking.

A simple HMI-like graphical representation of the network makes it easy for engineers to understand and address network issues.  For example, when a link goes down, a red line on the network diagram indicates where the link failure has occurred. Double-click on a switch to open that switch’s device panel and see which ports are in use. Double-click on an individual Ethernet port, and to see the real time traffic on that port.

Version 2.2 of MXview introduces powerful new features, such as device visualization, third-party device management, and device availability and inventory reports. Third-party devices can now display more information about themselves using the new embedded MIB browser and MIB compiler. With these tools, administrators can extract and read any MIB parameter from third-party devices, for more comprehensive control over industrial networks composed of Moxa and third-party network devices. MXview 2.2 also supports inventory and device availability reports that can be exported as Microsoft Excel-compatible CSV or PDF files.

Other key features of MXview 2.2: Record and replay network events with event playback function; generate trend graphs to track bandwidth utilization and error packet rate statistics, accurate to four decimal points; detect problems in real-time with SNMP trap/inform, or periodic polling; configure event notification alarms sent through SMS and email, or locally through program notifications and audio alerts; monitor real-time device availability; manage third-party devices with MIB compiler and MIB browser.
