EC: SurgePOD Modules

Power - Energy, power interruption: UL 1449 Third Edition Recognized Type 1 Surge Protective Devices for SPD Assemblies and Systems are color-coded for ease of application. This is a Control Engineering 2013 Engineers' Choice Awards Honorable Mention.

Cooper Bussmann SurgePOD Modules are board-mountable Type 1 surge protective devices (SPD) for use in assemblies and systems. Upon an overvoltage condition, their voltage clamping feature becomes conductive, safely shunting the surge to ground.

All SurgePOD devices are UL 1449 3rd Edition Recognized Type 1 SPD and contain an internal element that safely disconnects the device upon reaching an overvoltage breakdown condition. Six modules with available ratings for systems from 150 V ac to 550 V ac provide all the needed modules to meet any surge protection design.

Common industry size of the SurgePOD Module easily fits into new and existing SPD assembly designs for all voltages. Patent pending thermal disconnect technology eliminates the need for additional over-current protection. 200 kA SCCR and 50 kA surge rating meet the highest requirements for all SPD assemblies. Color-coding makes it easy to identify device ratings while optional local visual indicator tabs and optional remote contact signaling make status monitoring simple.
