Rittal’s Blue e+ series of enclosure air conditioners for the U.S. market feature a hybrid system that uses active and passive cooling technologies. The active cooling system operates using a traditional compressor-based unit. The passive system uses Rittal’s heat pipe technology. The heat pipes are designed to work like heat exchangers. The unit’s near-field communication uses a smartphone and a Rittal app to allow authorized personnel to monitor and/or make adjustments. The near-field communication range is slightly more than 0.5-in. It also uses inverter technology, which allows the unit to operate regardless of voltage and frequency.

The cooling units can be operated on several voltages without installing a transformer and dc motors can also be used. The hybrid design provides increased energy savings as well as reduced hysteresis control and improved temperature control, which in turn leads to less condensation within the enclosure. Other features include a touchscreen display that reads out in plain text and a remote communications module that will enable authorized personnel to get readings remotely.
