Oak Brook, ILControl Engineering is seeking a full-time senior editor for machine and embedded control, and human-machine interface coverage. Responsibilities include writing feature-length articles on various technologies, including (but not limited to) machine and embedded control, human-machine interface, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), PC-based controls, machine controls, machine vision systems, input/output (I/O) systems, and industrial communication networks.

This senior editor will also write shorter, more product-specific articles, department pieces, and news stories for print, online, and e-mailed newsletters. Duties include editing contributed articles on wider topics. Gathering editorial information, interviewing company personnel, and coverage of trade shows and seminars are also part of the position.

The position requires engineering experience in industrial automation; discrete control is preferred. Strong writing and communication skills are a must, as well as a good work ethic, careful attention to details, and the ability to meet multiple overlapping deadlines. This includes print issues, online, e-mail newsletters, and other information delivery opportunities.
