The FDT IIoT Server (FITS) architecture is designed to provide platform independence and can be deployed on a Microsoft-, Linux-, or macOS-based operating system. The FITS platform is designed to enable cloud, enterprise, on-premise, and a single-user desktop deployment method. It meets user needs in the process, hybrid, and discrete manufacturing sectors. It can also natively integrate with OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA).

The solution is intended to simplify entry into the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) marketplace as an open platform standardized integration architecture. The launch is planned for the latter half of 2019 and the final standard will be delivered as three documents:

  • The FDT 2.5 specification, which builds on FDT 2.1 to include HTML5 and JavaScript graphical user interface features
  • The FITS Web Services Technical Specification, which describes the Web Services interfaces and requirements for an FDT Server;
  • The OPC UA Annex, which details the OPC UA Server mapping for an FDT Server.
