Hoske, CFE MediaODVA, the industrial network organization that supports network technologies built on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) — DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, CompoNet, and ControlNet, announced leadership for its 15th term. These selections were made in March 2011 at ODVA’s annual meetings of its board and of its members in Litchfield Park, Ariz. (Link to other ODVA news from the meeting, below.)

Directors constituting ODVA’s Board, as it enters its 15th term, include:

  • Cyril Perducat, senior vice president for Plant Solutions and System Consistency at Schneider Electric
  • Frank Kulaszewicz, senior vice president for Architecture and Software at Rockwell Automation
  • Michael Höing, vice president for Electronics Business at Weidmüller Interface
  • Chet Namboodri, global director for Manufacturing for Industry Solutions and Marketing at Cisco Systems
  • Ryuji Yamasaki, general manager for Drives Development (Industrial Automation Business) for Omron
  • Bernd-Josef Schäfer, executive vice president for Engineering and Manufacturing (Electric Drives and Controls) for Bosch Rexroth, who is joining ODVA’s board for his first term as a director

ODVA’s Board has re-appointed director Cyril Perducat to serve as ODVA’s president, director Frank Kulaszewicz as treasurer, and participant from ODVA member Eaton Electrical, Richard Harwell, as chief technology officer (CTO). Also re-appointed was ODVA senior staff member, Katherine Voss, as executive director, who is responsible for general management of the organization which has headquarters in Ann Arbor, Mich., USA, and additional operations in China, Germany, Japan and Korea.

As CTO, Harwell will chair ODVA’s Technical Review Board (TRB), which is comprised of representatives from ODVA’s members and oversees ODVA technical standards for its networks. ODVA’s TRB in the 15th term includes returning representatives David VanGompel of Rockwell Automation, Jeff Jurs of Omron, Paul Didier of Cisco Systems, Rudy Belliardi of Schneider Electric, and Damien Leterrier of Molex.  Ludwig Leurs of Bosch Rexroth and Joakim Wiberg of HMS Industrial Networks join the TRB for their first term.

“In the past term, ODVA’s leadership has effectively moved the organization into critical new application areas, such as the optimization of energy usage.  As a result, ODVA is helping industry to both protect and expand its investment in ODVA technologies,” said Cyril Perducat, president, ODVA. “In the upcoming term, the directors and officers look forward to focusing on ODVA major initiatives in machinery and energy, along with actions to ensure the continued strength and independence of the organization, and its long term growth.”

Individuals are appointed or reappointed as officers, directors or TRB representatives for one term, as defined from one annual meeting of the organization’s members to its next annual meeting. Both ODVA’s board of directors and its TRB hold regular meetings throughout the term as required to fulfill their responsibilities to the organization.

Founded in 1995, ODVA describes itself as a "global association whose members are comprised of the world’s leading automation companies. ODVA’s mission is to advance open, interoperable information and communication technologies in industrial automation. ODVA recognizes its media independent network protocol, the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) – and the network adaptations of CIP – EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, CompoNet and ControlNet – as its core technology and the primary common interest of its membership. ODVA’s vision is to contribute to the sustainability and prosperity of the global community by transforming the model for information and communication technology in the industrial ecosystem. For future interoperability of production systems and the integration of the production systems with other systems, ODVA embraces the adoption of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and standard, unmodified Internet and Ethernet technologies as a guiding principle wherever possible. This principal is exemplified by EtherNet/IP – the world’s number one industrial Ethernet network," the organization said.
