Photoelectric sensors extend sensing range, ruggedness

Carlo Gavazzi PA18 Series photoelectric sensors in M18 housing have an extended sensing range and ability to withstand extreme temperature and high pressure.

July 6, 2011

Carlo Gavazzi announced the launch of the PA18 Series photoelectric sensors in the popular M18 housing, with reportedly advanced features and extended sensing ranges.

The new generation of PA18 Series features several housing innovations which increase their flexibility. This includes a reduction in overall length of 40% from the previous series, a new radial housing option which provides the means for right angle sensing, a robust housing design that meets the standards of IP67, IP69K and Ecolab certification, and when being cleaned, they can withstand high temperatures (80 °C / 17 6°F) and high pressure (1450 psi/100 bar).

Sensing ranges are increased up to 150% from the previous generation. Sensing modes include diffuse (1 m sensing range), retro-reflective (6.5 m sensing range), polarized retro-reflective (5 m sensing range), and through-beam (20 m sensing range).

The new advanced microprocessor provides higher switching speeds than previous models, advanced filtering and detection, as well as the ability to offer more customized solutions for every application, the company said.

The new generation PA18 Series cable and plug versions, laser markings instead of labels, and a mounting adapter that allows for smooth flush mounting with only one jam nut. They carry cULus and CE approvals.
