Polimeri Europa implements PlantWeb architecture

Austin, TX—Emerson Process Management recently supplied its PlantWeb digital plant ar-chitecture to Polimeri Europa UK for installation at its Grangemouth, Scotland site, which manufactures synthetic rubbers for the tire industry.

Following a successful PlantWeb installation at Polimeri’s facility in Hythe, U.K., the Grangemouth plant decided that its planned

‘Initially there was some resistance,’ says Alasdair Woodger, Polimeri’s systems engineer. ‘This was because it was new. We are now perfectly happy with the decision we made. The PlantWeb architecture is easy to understand and operate. Technology has moved on and we need to move with it.’

PlantWeb includes a DeltaV digital automation system with field device communication via FOUNDATION fieldbus protocol. Field devices include Fisher control valves fitted with Fisher Fieldvue digital valve controllers and Rosemount temperature, pressure and level transmitters.
