Pressure sensors: New series uses latest HART protocol

By Control Engineering Staff June 21, 2007

The new ST 3000 pressure instrument line from Honeywell is reportedly the first to support HART 6 , the latest version of the analog and digital communication protocol. This allows users to take advantage of all the functionality HART 6 has to offer when used with a control system using the same capability.

The ST 3000 series includes a full range of pressure measurement offerings, including:

Standard gage measurement;

Absolute pressure;

Differential pressure;

Threaded and flanged inlets; and,

Standard and high-temperature versions.

Honeywell also claims the title of the first to include HART 6 in a control system. Its Experion PKS (process knowledge system) was reportedly the first DCS to support HART 6 without any add-on devices or conversion tools. This permits the fullest use of the range of secondary functions the devices offer.
