Re-structured specification features key revisions, updates
CAN in Automation has re-structured the CiA 417 specification to incorporate virtual devices with CANopen protocols.
CAN in Automation (CiA) now provides the CiA 417 specification on its website (www.can-cia.org) to be downloaded free-of-charge.
The completely re-structured specification is partly incompatible to version 1.0. In particular, the specification for some virtual devices such as car drive has reportedly been revised significantly.
Also some PDO specifications have been updated. The SIG (Special Interest Group) CANopen Lift will continue to add new virtual devices, but it is not intended to change the technical specification of the just released version 2.0.
