Robot vision: Software library aids robot navigation

Braintech releases library of vision-guidance program modules.

Washington, DC — Braintech Inc. eVisionEngine , a vision guidance library that offers expanded commercial uses to a broad spectrum of customers in the robotics’ industry. The company says its library is based on core science developed for eVisionFactory software used in vision guided robotics (VGR). It has separate VGR technology packages for guiding robots in industries, such as manufacturing and materials handling.On Oct. 1, the company released the package for 2-D VGR, and promises future releases for 2.5-D and single camera 3-D in fourth-quarter 2008 and Random Bin Picking within first-quarter 2009. In addition to pose-calculation technologies (which the company says can be used to locate parts with a high degree of accuracy), automatic robot-camera calibration, part training and system testing will also be packaged.See more from Control Engineering on vision systems .— C.G.
