Ignition v7.8 SCADA enterprise software by Inductive Automation has added modules and features designed to make make connecting, managing, and analyzing the industrial data easier. Ignition v7.8 gives users more power to create better reports and send them more easily, efficiently manage multiple servers connect to a greater number of devices, and more. The reporting module’s updates include the ability to build reports with the rapid application development tools found in Ignition’s design environment.

Other features include a report pagination engine with tables, charts, crosstabs, as well as the ability to design and schedule reports with drag-and-drop and no scripting required. Ignition allows schedule reports to be executed and delivered by the Ignition Gateway and the user can deliver scheduled reports in many file formats such as PDF, HTML, and RTF. The user can also use query tools to gather data from many sources, such as SQL databases, tag historian, or files. The SQL query builder for building perfect queries via drag-and-drop. In addition, existing reporting module users with upgrade protection get the updated version for free. Reports no longer require vision clients to be generated, but can be embedded in vision clients if desired. It is also backwards-compatible and old reports will operate without interruption.

Ignition v7.8’s scalability is expanded with the enterprise administration module (EAM), which is designed to enhance Ignition’s horizontal scalability by making it easier to control and monitor multiple Ignition gateways from one machine. Large enterprises can manage multiple-server architectures, including those that are spread out geographically. EAM functionality includes the ability to control and monitor multiple gateways from a central gateway as well as schedule, automate, and track maintenance tasks from one central location.
