Slotted brushless dc motors offer high performance, reliability

Pittman slotted bldc motors are intended for wide applications, such as data storage, medical/biotech, semiconductor processing, and automation, among others.

Newly introduced Pittman brand slotted brushless dc (bldc) motors from PennEngineering Motion Technologies incorporate internal Hall sensor feedback for linear speed-torque characteristics, high starting torque, and variable-speed control (with appropriate control electronics). The 6-slot lamination design contributes to high power, fast acceleration, consistent operation, and long service life, the company says.

These 2.3-in. diameter bldc motors come in four standard stack lengths (0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 in.) and feature high-energy neodymium-iron-boron (Nd-Fe-B) magnets for optimized performance. Speeds up to 8,000 rpm and continuous torque up to 49 oz-in. (or 75 oz-in. with heat sink) can be achieved.

Mounting configuration complies with NEMA 23 standards. Modular motor design aids customization with the company’s On-Motor controllers and components, including modified shafts, multiple windings, electromechanical brakes, and optical encoders to satisfy unique application demands.
