Software vendor Pavilion Technologies has signed an implementation agreement to improve operating efficiency and increase the use of secondary fuels at Buzzi Unicem , an Italian cement producer. As part of the agreement, Buzzi Unicem will deploy Pavilion’s Pavilion8 kiln control system on a kiln at its Robilante operations plant. The software is also expected to help the cement producer improve product quality and enhance production.
Buzzi Unicem is among the world’s largest cement manufacturers with a capacity of 40.5 million tons. It operates 43 cement plants, 471 ready-mix concrete plants, and 39 terminals. The firm selected the Pavilion system after achieving successful results with it at multiple operation sites at Dyckerhoff AG, a German subsidiary company.
“Our Dyckerhoff subsidiary realized significant benefits with Pavilion’s solutions, and we are confident Buzzi Unicem will achieve similar gains at our Robilante plant,” said Dott Luigi Buzzi. “Pavilion’s guarantee of satisfaction through its ValueFirst program, coupled with its excellent track record in the cement industry, provides a formula for success in helping Buzzi Unicem create value through operational efficiency.”
The agreement with Buzzi Unicem demonstrates Pavilion’s leadership in European cement industry applications, says said Ralph Carter, CEO, Pavilion Technologies. Pavilion’s advanced process control technology delivers improved performance with measurable results better than others, and cement industry leaders are taking notice, Carter says.
Pavilion’s software is based on model-predictive control technology. It provides optimization across key areas of the production process, including the vertical raw mill, kiln, and cement mill. In addition, it includes environmental compliance monitoring and reporting and production performance management. Its Pavilion8 software platform for modeling, control, monitoring, analysis, visualization, and integration reportedly helps customers achieve faster time-to-value and greater long-term value than alternatives.
