N uremberg, Germany – SPS/IPC/Drives , the growing ‘special interest’ electrical automation show, just concluded another successful run, Nov. 27-29, 2001. Five exhibition halls at Nuremberg’s Exhibition Center were used to accommodate this event for the first time.
SPS/IPC/Drives focuses on PLC/industrial PC technologies, electric drives, as well as fieldbuses, communications, software for control and visualization, sensors, and information technology (IT) integration. The exhibits highlight systems for automation projects, but without neglecting vital components.
This year’s 715 exhibitors, up from 643 in 2000, surpassed preshow expectations, and included a substantial influx of new exhibitors. Display area amounted to 40,000 m2(430,000 ft2), up from 33,400 m2used last year. Some 21,100 visitors represented a healthy boost over last year’s 18,704 attendees. Moreover, visitor count at SPS/IPC/Drives has shown sustained growth over the years.
Twin conferences – SPS/IPC/Drives and IT & Automation – are key offerings of the event. Some 656 attendees were on hand to partake in conferences this year, down from 867 in 2000.
‘Visitors used the three exhibition days to find solutions for their automation problems and an overview on the latest innovation trends. Full aisles and the splendid atmosphere proved SPS/IPC/Drives to be frankly the automation industry’s autumn highlight,’ according to a show spokesperson.
