Vlinx Serial Server links serial PLCs to an Ethernet LAN and puts information on a screen in a central control room. Each of a device’s four DB9M serial ports can be software configured as an RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 interface. RJ45 Ethernet connection will auto-select 10BaseT or 100BaseTX. Connected machines or devices can be configured, monitored, and controlled from a central location. “Heartbeat” feature provides automatic resumption of data connection in case of a power failure or loss of Ethernet connection on either client or server.
