Two new panel PCs for industrial requirements include the Simatic Panel PC 577 from Siemens Energy and Automation and the Industrial Panel PC from Apollo Display Technologies . Both are designed for a variety of rugged and industrial applications including machine automation, industrial control, and digital signage.
Simatic Panel PC577 is equipped with an Intel Pentium 4 processor (2.4 GHz), main memory expandable to 3 GB, and a 40-GB hard disk. Unit features an Ethernet port, and a USB 2.0 port integrated in the front for quick data storage. Device operates without fans for minimal maintenance. It has an expandable, compact design and shallow 75-mm installation depth for use where space is at a premium. It is IP65 and NEMA 4 (front) rated.

Industrial Panel PC has a Pentium 4 CPU, rugged space-saving enclosure, and drop-in design for plug-and-play use. Unit comes in two standard modules: one with a 12.1-in. SVGA or XGA LCD and the other with a 17-in. SXGA LCD. Both have wide viewing angles, high contrast ratios, and high brightness. Series is fully scalable by removing the U-bracket on the cradle of the enclosure and substituting it with one of the appropriate size. Unit accommodates LCDs from 12.1-in. through 19-in. diagonal. It is capable of full-motion color display and full interface capability. Operating temperature range is 0-50 °C.
