The U.S Army has placed a half-million-dollar order for 40 digital pressure calibrators from GE Infrastructure Sensing . The dual-range DPI 515 device is an upgrade from earlier technology calibrators and supports new military test requirements. The instruments will be used in Army labs around the world for calibrating pressure and force sensors and transducers. Some units will be installed in mobile calibration vans deployed to support equipment and troops in conflict areas.
A team of engineers worked with Army personnel to specify the product. In addition, GE placed the unit on the General Services Administration schedule—a customer requirement—as it provides a more efficient method for government purchases and a reduction in acquisition cost.
DPI 515 incorporates measuring and control technology into one compact instrument. Features include multiple processors, advanced software, and a large area display. Device is multilingual, simple to operate, and low maintenance. Pressure goes up to 3,000 psi; precision is 0.01% full scale. Equipment uses RS-232 and IEEE 488 communications.
