BSquare provides ”jump start” for Microsoft Windows XP Embedded developers

Bellevue, WA - BSquare Corp. announced January 23 a new service aimed at helping engineering teams jump-start Windows XP Embedded development projects.

Bellevue, WA – BSquare Corp . announced January 23 a new service aimed at helping engineering teams jump-start Windows XP Embedded development projects.

Designed specifically for developers using Microsoft Windows Embedded software and tools for the first time, BSquare’s XPe Jump Start Service helps them quickly and cost effectively get the Windows XP Embedded operating system and target applications running on next-generation products. The service boosts a developer’s ability to meet aggressive deployment schedules for small OS footprint devices with enhanced features such as non-volatile storage and flash and remote boot, which are critical in retail, medical, and gaming applications.

”BSquare’s XPe Jump Start Service offers customers a streamlined way to quickly and cost-effectively leverage the industry-leading reliability, security and performance of Windows XP Embedded,” said Keith White, senior director of the Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft Corp.

”XPe Jump Start Service is designed specifically for companies moving their new products from an older desktop operating system to Windows XP Embedded,” said Scott Bufkin, vice president of Professional Engineering Services for BSquare. ”This new service gives them a low-cost option that allows them to quickly take advantage of the features of XPe in their new product.”

XPe Jump Start service begins when Bsquare’s Professional Engineering Services group creates a deployable Windows XP Embedded operating system image for a target hardware platform. The service includes integration of up to two applications with the OS image. A first-pass optimization of the OS image footprint is achieved by removing unnecessary components.

A summary report documents high-level build steps, enabling an engineering staff to repeat the build process at their own site. The report also indicates any key issues identified by BSquare during the image configuration process. This issue spotting enables developers to quickly identify the root cause of any problems preventing deployment of the image.

XPe Jump Start is complemented by BSquare’s other XPe products and services, including software tools and licenses, professional training classes, and technical support.

BSquare’s XPe Jump Start engineering service is available immediately and priced at $4,995 USD.
