ESC Boston 2005 coming next week


Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Boston —described as “the most important educational forum on the East Coast for engineers and engineering managers developing embedded systems”—is set for another run at the Hynes Convention Center, Sept. 12-15, 2005. This year, ESC will be co-located with the Embedded Security Seminar (Sept. 12-14), reflecting the growing concern for security within the embedded industry. The exhibition part of ESC, also on Sept. 12-14, will feature displays of latest technologies and tools from leading hardware and software companies.

Six full-day tutorials plus more than 100 technical sessions and classes comprise the conference. Topics range over the latest in embedded design methods, trends, and tools. “Shop Talk” free-form discussions moderated by popular conference instructors will open each day of the event (7:15-8:15 a.m., Sept. 13, 14, 15). These discussions provide an exchange of ideas on common embedded development problems. Focus of Shop Talk varies with the interests of attendees.

More than 160 exhibitors are expected to participate in the show-floor part of ESC Boston. A variety of free workshops also will be presented by exhibitors, for example, Echelon Corp., IBM, Intel, and Sun Microsystems.


The parallel Embedded Security Seminar will cover practical secure hardware design, wireless security, Internet security, among other topics, and will include a security panel discussion.
