Hannover, Germany - Another Hannover Industrial Fair opened here on April 15, 2002, amid much awaited, but not yet convincing, economic turnaround in Germany, Europe and the U.S.

Actually, "the world's largest industrial fair" was officially opened the previous evening by German Chancellor, Gerhard Schröder, during ceremonies and presentations about Germany's industrial health and economic prospects.

Mr. Schröder's remarks included "Good predictions for an economic turnaround and more employment (in Germany). The confidence in a new upturn is here."

Also among opening-ceremony speakers was Heinrich von Pierer, chairman of the board of Siemens AG.

Keeping with tradition, Chancellor Schröder visited the fair on the first day, touring some exhibits. The Bosch Rexroth (Lohr, Germany/Hoffman Estates, Ill.) exhibit was among the stops.

Led by Factory Automation, the seven individual but integrated "fairs with a fair" presented this year are bringing together nearly 7,000 exhibitors form 69 countries. About 250,000 visitors are expected to view their latest product and technologies. Hannover Fair 2002 runs through April 20.
