HMI: Handheld operator panel saves time, effort

Beijer Electronics introduces a new member of its user-friendly series of operator panels, Exter M70.

Beijer Electronics introduces a new member of its user-friendly series of operator panels. Exter M70, with a weight of only 1.3 kg and an ergonomic design, is the first handheld interface from Beijer.
Product manager Marcus Jillgart notes several areas of use for the product. “There are many cases where it is necessary to literally take a close look at an application while handling the operator panel. It can be when teaching a robot, or when doing the initial settings of a machine. Using an Exter handheld panel, this can be accomplished without running back and forth, which saves the operator valuable time,” he explains. “There are also applications that require an extra person to ensure that everything runs as it should. For instance, when starting and/or stopping an application. With Exter M70, the operator can handle this alone.”
Safety is ensured with a big, red safety e-stop on the front, and an option to use an enabling switch that must be pressed
Design allows both left- and right-handed use. The high-resolution TFT display incorporates 640x480 pixels, so objects and images are presented with a high level of detail. Built-in functionality handles alarms, recipes, remote access and multiple languages. The Exter series includes keypad and touch screen panels with displays ranging from 3.5 to 15.0 inches.
