A variety of display products are making their way to market this month. They include a series of rugged monitors and avionics displays; a new family of single-LED molded light guides; and a color service monitor for analog radio testing and maintenance. Here are details on each, along with links for more information.

Parvus Corp., last week at the Embedded Systems Conference, unveiled the DuraVIS family of rugged, multi-function, flat-panel displays for industrial mobile, aerospace, and military applications.

Products unveiled by Parvus Corp . at last week's Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, CA, included a new family of flat panel displays. DuraVIS rugged monitor and multi-function display series includes rugged monitors and avionics displays for industrial mobile, aerospace, and military applications. Products feature daylight readability, a hardened mechanical design with anti-glare protective covers for impact protection and explosive decompression, dimming capabilities, and low-temperature operation. Some models integrate modular embedded PC technology to support system expansion and onboard data processing capabilities. Designed to meet MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461, each unit is designed to protect against glare, EMI/EMC, extreme temperature, physical contact, and shock and vibration.

MicroLens single-LED molded light guides from Global Lighting Technologies are said to bring high brightness and high performance to many applications.

A new family of single-LED molded light guides using Global Lighting Technologies MicroLens technology are said to provide higher brightness than other LED-based flat-panel display backlighting options. Backlights can be designed in sizes from 0.24 to 15.4 in. diagonal to provide single LED monochrome, bi-color, or tri-color backlights. Applications include instrumentation and control displays, Gen 3 mobile phone displays, and PDA keypads. Pixel-based light extraction technology is said to make possible fully integrated backlighting modules with higher brightness, crisp color, and extreme thinness (to 0.60 mm or below), and low power consumption (typically 1-20 mA @ 3.5 V). Simple, single-LED backlights are available in quantity for $1 or less.

HMI

Aeroflex's Model 2944B analog radio test set features a color transflective screen viewable in bright sunlight.

Aeroflex adds the 2944B analog radio test set to its portfolio of 2945 series communications service monitors. Labeled an affordable entry-level test set with added functionality, the device is intended for professional, cost-effective radio testing and maintenance. Unit comes with tools and capabilities to perform installation, test, or fault diagnosis. It weighs 25 lb, and offers a full-span spectrum analyzer and a color transflective screen viewable even in bright sunlight. Features include a typical Autotune speed of less than 3 s for rapid time between transmitter key-up, acquisition, and display of measurement results.
