The 10th International Display Workshops , scheduled for Dec. 3-5 in Fukuoka, Japan, will include a special session on electronic paper. Paperlike displays and re-writable paper will also be part of the presentation. The topic of the Workshops’ keynote address is ”Industrial Applications of Carbon Nanotubes.” The technical program will consist of 11 sessions on display and human factors subjects. Among them are liquid crystal science and technologies, organic EL displays, and applied vision and human factors. The gathering is sponsored by the Society for Information Display and the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineering .

QVGA Controller from Mosaic Industries Inc . features an embedded single-board C-programmable computer and a touchscreen-enabled operator interface on a 1/4 VGA display. Two displays are available: a bright, amber-on-black high-contrast electroluminescent display visible from any angle, or a bright white-on-blue CCFL backlit LCD. Controller comes with object-oriented menu-based software that makes it easy to control an application. Display screens and graphics objects are easily developed with most Microsoft Windows paint programs, allowing the user to create sophisticated displays. Software includes real time plotting routines for displaying system status graphically or with text-based messages.

1247L 12.1-in. liquid crystal display rear-mount touchmonitor from Elo TouchSystems, Inc ., has a higher brightness, better contrast, and wider viewing angle than most 12-in. LCDs, and up to 800 x 600 resolution at 75 Hz. Device has an injection-molded minibezel and watertight seal to keep liquids and dirt away from the electronics. IntelliTouch pure glass surface-wave touch technology is standard and accommodates finger and gloved-hand operation. Other features include multilingual remote on-screen display, multiple mounting options, and auto-switching power supply.

LabVIEW 7 Express , the most recent upgrade to National Instruments graphical development environment, is now available in French, German, and Japanese. For the first time, documentation is now available in Korean. The additions, says NI, should increase productivity for users by providing displays, help features, and icons in their native languages.
