Interphex 2007: Instrument is ‘workhorse’ for liquid analysis uses

Rosemount Analytical Model 1056 single/dual input analyzer from Emerson Process Management features a large, easy to read, back lit display that shows up to four process variables or diagnostic parameters simultaneously.

Irvine, CA and New York, NY— A new Rosemount Analytical liquid analysis platform from Emerson Process Management is said to simplify operation and maintenance beyond that of previous generations of instruments. Model 1056 single/dual input analyzer, introduced at Interphex in New York City last month, is described as a “cost-effective, workhorse instrument” for a wide range of OEM and end-user liquid analysis applications. It allows the user to choose from a combination of measurements, including pH/ORP/ISE, resistivity / conductivity, percent concentration, chlorine (free, total, monochloramine, pH independent free chlorine), oxygen, ozone, and temperature.

Model 1056 simplifies operation in the field with what is reported to be the largest high-contrast LCD available on a line-operated instrument. Large, easy-to-read process measurements can be seen clearly from a distance, thanks to a back-lit display. Four process variables or diagnostic parameters are shown simultaneously, giving operators maximum information at a glance. The placement of variables on the screen may be configured according to user requirements. Screens may be changed using simple, intuitive, English menus and help-screens that make operation easy without need for manuals or instructions.

No more than three button pushes are required for any operation. Embedded predictive diagnostics provide warnings and faults when the sensors or the instrument are not performing to specification. Pushing the diagnostics button reveals PlantWeb alert troubleshooting and maintenance messages.

The instrument is easy to set up and troubleshoot using quick-start screens that appear the first time the unit is powered up. The analyzer auto-recognizes each measurement board installed within the device and the display prompts the user to configure each sensor in a few steps for immediate deployment. The instrument is designed with modular cards and easily removable connectors to make reconfiguration in the field simple. Built-in wire guides keep the interior organized and wiring plans are intuitive. When measurement boards are changed, the analyzer automatically recognizes the configuration change. A hinged door and captive screws help make installation easier.
