ISA Expo 2004: Belden extends Ethernet cabling line

Houston, TX— Belden CDT ‘s electronics division reported at ISA Expo 2004 that it has expanded its line of DataTuff data cables by adding one two-pair and three four-pair Category 5e cables. These new offerings add to Belden’s industrial Ethernet cables, which include DataTuff Cat 5e and Cat 6 twisted pair copper cables and TrayOptic fiber-optic cables.

The company says its Ethernet cables provide superior performance and reliability, even in the presence of electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (RFI). They’re constructed to withstand harsh industrial and environmental conditions, such as oil, sunlight, wide temperature variations, abrasion, and crushing. As a result, the cables ensure optimum network performance and uptime, and avoid data transmission errors that can lead to unsafe conditions or interruption of critical industrial control functions. Belden’s new Ethernet products include:

7933A, a two-pair, 24 AWG, foil-shielded, Cat 5e Bonded-Pair cable. It is CMR FT4 rated; features polyolefin insulation; has industrial-grade sunlight- and oil-resistant black or teal PVC jacketing, and is Ethernet/IPT compliant.

7930A, a four-pair, 24 AWG, unshielded, Cat 5e cable. It is CMR FT4 and CMX-outdoor rated; is stranded for added flexibility; features polyolefin insulation; and has an industrial-grade sunlight- and oil-resistant black PVC jacket.

7922A, a four-pair, 22 AWG, unshielded, Bonded-Pair Cat 5e cable. It’s PLTC, CMR FT4, and CMX-outdoor rated; features polyolefin insulation; and is also industrial grade sunlight- and oil-resistant black PVC jacketed.

11700A2, a four-pair, 24 AWG, unshielded, upjacketed, Bonded-Pair Cat 5e cable. It’s CMR FT4 and Oil Res I & II rated; features polyolefin insulation; and has an industrial-grade black or blue PVC jacket.

Belden adds that many versions of its DataTuff cables offer the added advantage of Belden’s patented Bonded-Pair technology. This construction affixes the conductor insulation of the cable pairs along their longitudinal axes to ensure that no performance-robbing gaps can develop between the conductor pairs. In addition, TrayOptic cables feature laser-certified fiber and water-blocking capabilities for installations demanding fiber-optic technology with superior durability. Belden’s entire series of TrayOptic fiber-optic cables have been upgraded to include a water-blocking agent. They also use Laser-Certified Fiber (LCFT) to handle Gigabit Ethernet light sources and expanded bandwidth requirements. Designed for indoor and outdoor industrial applications, these heavy-duty, all-dielectric, loose-tube fiber optic cables carry the IEEE 383 flame approval rating.
