Ispat Industries orders hot mill inspection system

Ispat Industries Ltd., one of India’s leading metals manufacturers, is improving its hot strip mill steel manufacturing operations in Dolvi, Maharashtra, with a surface inspection system and coil release application.

Founded by Mohan L. Mittal, Ispat Industries is one of the largest private sector producers of hot rolled steel coils. The company selected the system in order to guarantee outstanding quality for its customers, including manufacturers in the growing Indian automotive market.

Ispat Industries chose espresso SI software from Parsytec AG for the surface inspection application and will augment it with Parsytec’s surface quality yield software, parsytec 5i. Ispat gains the ability to build applications to support operator actions such as coil grading or coil release, as well as Web add-ons that grant access to coil or quality reports through a standard internet browser.

According to a company spokesman, espresso SI offers, “the most compact hardware, requires least maintenance effort and hence has the lowest total cost of ownership in the inspection market.” Ispat Industries also reportedly liked Parsytec’s “enhanced detection and classification software and Parsytec’s outstanding position with 10 years experience and 60 installations in this field.”

Parsytec AG is headquartered in Aachen, Germany, and maintains subsidiaries in North America, Korea, and China. Its products are reportedly used by 10 of the top 10 steel producers, and 15 of the top 20 paper producers worldwide.
