Whistle miniature digital servo-drive is small and light enough to be mounted to a motor housing or in close proximity to a motor. Matchbox-sized (2 cu in.) device delivers up to 0.5 kW continuous power at up to 99% efficiency and weighs only 1.76 oz (50 g). Seven models offer a range of voltage and current levels from 1 A, 60 V to 5 A, 100 V continuous operation. The 2-in. long x 1.8-in. deep x 0.6-in. high package delivers a peak of 1 kW power. Drive provides sinusoidal current, velocity, and full position control and interfaces to brush dc, brushless PM, linear and/or voice-coil motors. It’s powered by an external 7.5-95 V dc-isolated-dc supply. A smart supply control algorithm lets the unit operate with one power supply, eliminating the need for a separate logic supply.
