Next Interkama fair postponed into 2004

Düsseldorf, Germany- Visitors and exhibitors will have to wait more than three months longer to participate in the next Interkama, the International Trade Fair for Solutions for Automation in Production and Business Processes.

The 16th edition of Interkama will run Feb. 16-20, 2004 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, instead of the previously announced dates of Oct. 27-31, 2003. Show organizer Messe Düsseldorf and the Interkama Committee decided to change the dates, based on results of visitor and exhibitor surveys at this year's Sept. 24-28 event, along with recommendations from the show's sponsoring associations.

Another reason given for the change was the need to coordinate dates on the international trade fair calendar, which has a particularly heavy schedule in autumn 2003. Interkama plays an active role in World F.I.M.A., an association of 16 automation trade fairs, which includes the ISA show, held annually in the U.S. No doubt, the close time proximity of the ISA show, which usually runs in September or October, was a factor in postponing Interkama, so it could attract more North American exhibitors and visitors.

'This new date allows us to take the needs of smaller and medium-sized device and component suppliers from.around the world into account. We also had in mind innovative newcomers from the service industry that specialize in IT, maintenance and systems engineering. A tight time schedule of trade fairs around the world makes it quite difficult for these exhibitor groups to participate in a multitude of fall events, especially in 2003,' says Interkama's recently elected president, Anton Huber, who is also group executive director, Automation and Drives, Siemens AG. 'From now on, Interkama will be first on the automation trade fair calendar.'
