Pressure sensor: Transmitters for humid environments

09/20/2007

Some ambient environments can be hard on instrumentation transmitters, causing more problems than difficult process conditions. If moisture gets inside the electronic elements of a transmitter, the signal can be corrupted or might fail altogether. Turck has introduced its new PT 510 pressure transmitter family, featuring a stainless steel diaphragm and fully welded construction that eliminates the need for an O-ring seal. This construction reportedly proves more effective in humid environments with chilled media than conventional sensors, making PT 510 transmitters suitable for food, beverage, and other challenging applications.

The transmitters are available with a measurement range up to 500 psi and an accuracy rating of 0.5% of the full-scale reading. They are 2-wire loop powered with a 4-20 mA analog linear output and a 1/4 in. NPT male process connection.
