Procter & Gamble implements Intellution's plant-wide historian software

Foxborough, Mass. - Intellution, a division of Emerson Process Management, announced Feb. 12 that Procter & Gamble Co. will implement its plant-wide Intellution iHistorian as a key data collection, storage and retrieval engine for the company's manufacturing execution system (MES) applications.

Foxborough, Mass. - Intellution , a division of Emerson Process Management , announced Feb. 12 that Procter & Gamble Co. will implement its plant-wide Intellution iHistorian as a key data collection, storage and retrieval engine for the company's manufacturing execution system (MES) applications.

'Procter & Gamble needed a plant-wide historian to collect factory floor data for our manufacturing execution systems,' says Jeff List, section manager for P&G's MES Center of Expertise. 'With iHistorian, Intellution provides a high-end, affordable historian that addresses our needs.'

Harry Merkin, Intellution's global marketing vp, adds that, 'Intellution iHistorian enables Procter & Gamble's MES system to gain a clear snapshot of its entire production process, share this information with business-level systems throughout the enterprise, and retain all the data in a powerful, yet affordable, way.' Intellution's iHistorian gathers manufacturing data from thousands of points throughout a production facility. It also acts both as a permanent repository for this information and as a hub to which applications can be connected. Downtime monitoring, asset utilization and other analysis tools all require the real-time data housed within iHistorian to perform their tasks. Intellition adds that iHistorian employs the open, distributed architecture built into all its products, enabling it to link to virtually any third-party MES application or automation infrastructure.
