Seminars teach integrators about battery-pack design, safety

Among other topics, recent news regarding the safety of Li-ion battery packs will be explored in a series of battery-powered seminars to be presented by battery-pack vendor Nexergy . The Portable Power Technical Seminar Series will be devoted exclusively to battery pack and charger technology, covering all aspects of battery pack and charger design from cell selection to battery safety.

Led by Chris Turner, director of battery technology, and Lon Schneider, director of product development, the series will include detailed presentations on all issues related to designing the optimal battery pack and charger. The series will emphasize safety circuits, validation and testing, cell balancing, and the repercussions of counterfeit battery cells. Attendees will also have the opportunity for one-on-one conversations with Nexergy engineers to inquire about specific portable power applications.

"Technology in the field of portable power is changing very rapidly," says Nexergy CEO Phil Glandon. "By educating engineers on the intricacies relating to performance and safety of their power source, we can give them the information they need to ensure their battery pack and charger operates safely" and performs as expected.

The seminar series made its debut Aug. 23 in Dayton, OH, and continues in California, New York, and Pennsylvania.
