Dual-Lite: EVE Series LED Exit SignLED exit sign

Dual-Lite’s EVE Series features an architectural LED exit sign that provides bright and uniform illumination. It uses efficient, long-life red or green LEDs rated at over 100,000 hours. The fixture’s long lifecycle NiMH battery provides 90 minutes of emergency exit illumination in the event of a power failure, and an LVD protects the battery during prolonged outages. The EVE Series accepts 120 to 277 Vac input at 60 Hz and optional 220 to 240 Vac input at 50 or 60 Hz with a self-diagnostics option and current charger. The fixture’s operating temperature range is 20 to 30 C, and it is NFPA 101 and NFPA 70 certified.

Eaton's B-Line Business: TOLCO Fig. 4LA seismic bracing attachmentSeismic bracing attachment

The TOLCO Fig. 4LA seismic bracing attachment from Eaton’s B-Line Business is available for piping sizes that range from 1 to 12 in. The seismic product offering is designed for a wide range of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler seismic bracing applications. Manufactured from carbon steel, the TOLCO Fig. 4LA is designed to brace piping against sway and seismic disturbances. The Fig. 4LA is pre-assembled with all of the necessary pieces and components and does not require additional assembly. The design also allows the product to be used in longitudinal and lateral applications. It also allows for easy inspection by any local authority having jurisdiction.

Gamewell-FCI by Honeywell: S3 Series Fire Alarm Control PanelFire alarm control panel

The S3 Series Fire Alarm Control Panel by Gamewell-FCI features an intuitive, touchscreen display to simplify system use for facility managers and first responders. The S3 Series is designed for straightforward operation whether used as a stand-alone system or part of an extensive network. The S3 Series’ full-color, touchscreen interface centers on system status, event details, and service mode. The S3 comes standard with five additional physical press-buttons located under the touchscreen display that can be customized for each facility to quickly access specific fire alarm information and control various system functions.

Littelfuse: SB6100 Series Industrial Shock-BlockGround fault circuit interrupter

Littelfuse’s SB6100 Series Industrial Shock-Block is a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) device designed to meet UL 943C Class C and Class D requirements. It is tested up to 50,000 amps, which eliminates the need for short-circuit protection. The SB6100 Shock-Block GFCI goes beyond the UL standards by including built-in overcurrent protection supplied by Class T fuses. Because fuses are included, installation is easy and there are no extra costs. The SB6100 Shock-Block GFCI is available as an open-chassis unit or as an enclosed unit with a NEMA-4X UL-listed enclosure.

Silent Knight by Honeywell: SK-FIRE-CO DetectorFire, CO detector

Silent Knight’s SK-FIRE-CO Detector and its compatible B200S Sounder Base are designed to replace multiple devices, including a CO and smoke detector. The B200S Sounder Base can be programmed as a single station alarm. Likewise, if smoke or CO is detected by multiple detectors within the same living quarters, the sounder bases can be programmed for a multi-station alarm. To verify a true fire emergency and minimize nuisance alarms, the SK-FIRE-CO Detector analyzes four elements: smoke, CO, light/flame, and heat. This makes it useful for challenging smoke detection environments like nightclubs or construction areas that have high amounts of dust.

Braided hose

The Series AH2-300 braided hose from Victaulic is an extension of the VicFlex sprinkler fitting system. The hose is 100% kink-resistant and has a 300 psi working pressure, allowing it to be used in high-pressure applications, such as high-rise and long horizontal buildings. The Series AH2-300 offers an improved hydraulic performance with a 50% lower friction loss corrugated systems. The improved corrugation and braided technology reduces the effort needed to bend the hose, allowing for better shape retention and ease of bending. The Series AH2-300 has undergone multi-step automated lead testing to ensure confidence in performance.

Victaulic: VicFlex Style AB6 Assembly for cold storage applicationsCold storage assembly

The VicFlex Style AB6 assembly reduces hands-on installation time by as much as 75% for cold storage applications. Condensation is produced when a freezer wall is not air-tight and can interrupt the sprinkler’s spray patterns, but the Style AB6 assembly eliminates the condensation and hazard altogether. The Style AB6 can also combat differential movement between ceilings. In the event of seismic activity or any settling of the building, the flexible sprinkler will move with the activity and adjust accordingly, leaving the system unharmed.

Subject: Professional Engineers of Oregon - October Meeting Presentation Outlines
Ref.: Siemens ASAtechnology based Innovative Fire Detection Products

Herewith, our response in Q&A format as desired by you:

Q1. What the industry has done in the past?
A1. Scattered -light sensing for smoke detection (A mature technology by now) has existed for more than 40 years and has
been continuously improving, leading to more accurate and more reliable detectors.

However, even today, most of scattered-light (photoelectric) detectors are single-sensor forward-scattering devices as
they were at the very beginning.

Comparing different products, ranging from inexpensive home detectors to more sophisticated and expensive detectors
for industrial applications, shows that they all have a rather small scattering angle in common (forward scattering).

Two decades ago, the combination of different physical principles for sensing of fire phenomena lead to the so-called
multi-sensor and multi-criteria detectors as more advanced representatives of the species.

The Siemens ASAtechnology based detectors have revolutionized the industry by introducing the dual-scattering principle
what is now commonly known as "Forward and Backward Light Scattering" principle.

Please feel free to forward the ASAtechnology flyer as enclosed to the PEO members for their advance information.

That's the core subject of presentation. However, its pertinent to start with the working principles of the traditional ionization
as well as photoelectric smoke detectors and then, dwell on this latest innovative technology introduced most recently by

Note: Siemens is the first company that has the UL listing for such a unique and different product that is set to bring true
peace of mind to the end users, facility managers and the engineers, alike.

Q2. New technology at what cost?
The S-Line of sophisticated detectors that utilize the ASAtechnology based detectors along with use of the the unique and different
"Forward and Backward Light Scatter" principle can be compared favorably in cost to the industry's leading brands multi-criteria
and multi-sensor based products from other manufacturers.
Yet, Siemens is able to provide "No false alarm guarantee" with the use of these sophisticated S-Line detectors. Please
see the enclosed flyer for more information.

Q3. What special training will I need to provide for my technicians to use these products?
A3. The new range of detectors is obviously compatible with the existing range of Siemens intelligent addressable fire alarm control
panels. Facilities and end users who are familiar with the use and programming of addressable fire alarm systems should
find themselves fully at ease.

Trust that the above and the enclosed would now suffice for the purpose and prove satisfactory.

Lastly, please note that we remain fully at your disposal for the continued interaction, thereafter as well.

Thanks again!
