At the heart of the MotiFlex e180 is universal system integration capability with flexible real-time embedded Ethernet compatibility and feedback interfacing, built-in functional safety and the ability to be used in many different types of control system architectures—from centralized control to intelligent stand-alone motion solutions.

The servo drives can be configured using a range of different continuous/peak power output modes to optimize them for applications with different precision, dynamic performance and duty cycle requirements. Combining this flexible overload scheme and range of feedback interfaces, including a cost saving single motor cable solution with HIPERFACE DSL, the drives can be used for control of high dynamic servo motors, induction motors in closed loop vector operation and linear motors. The compact and removable memory unit stores all drive settings, parameters and application programs. It allows preparing settings off-site, manage functionality levels, move settings from one drive to another without a PC and allows maintenance to commission a spare drive in a short time. With this flexibility, the ABB MotiFlex e180 drives appeal to system integrators, OEMs and automation engineers designing for an exceptionally broad range of continuous and heavy-duty application sectors including Food and Beverage, Packaging, Material Handling, Rubber and Plastics, Printing, Papermaking, Converting, Textiles and Machine Tools in Metal.
